Happenings in November

Earlier this month Mark’s parents, John and Joyce, came to visit us in DC.  We had a great time with them!  The usual must-sees were of course on the menu: Library of Congress, various war memorials, Archives, Embassy Row, etc.  But we also visited some places that Mark and/or I have not yet been.  Here are some pictures from their visit.

The National Cathedral was our first stop.  It was unfortunately a very rainy and grey day, so we could not get good pictures of the cathedral from the outside, nor could we get a good view of the city from the top of the cathedral.  But we were still quite impressed with its beauty and grandeur.

While the archetecture was impressive, the bookstore at the cathedral was not so hot.

What else do you see on the table along with “Believer’s Baptism” (which is a great book, by the way)?

The “Green” Bible, and…

sigh…

Moving on.

The Iwo Jima Memorial:

We found this great view of the city from Iwo Jima Memorial:

Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, the Capitol, Smithsonian Castle, and Library of Congress all in one shot!

While they were here, we also took them to the Kennedy Center to hear Lang Lang perform with the NSO.  That kid’s got serious talent.

Thanks, Mom and Dad, for coming to visit us!

The following week, Mark, our friend Joel, and I went to a Wizards vs. Cavaliers game.

Bring it, Lebron!

Well, the Cavaliers did not really “bring it” that night.  The Wizards won… But it was fun hanging out with our friend!
